Hickory

With a Janka Hardness Rating of 1820, Hickory is one of the hardest North American wood species, making it ideal for homes with big dogs or lots of traffic. Not only is it more resistant than other domestic wood species, but it also offers unique color variations with the grain, ranging from creamy whites to medium browns. Though there are some options for thinner strips of Hickory, the most popular choices are planks 5 inches or wider. The reason for this is due to how busy ones floor can start to look with such interesting graining and variations. Of course, everyone has differing taste, and what is most important is that you, the homeowner, are happy with the look of your hardwood floor.
